This basketweave sweater pattern makes a 20″ wide and 36″ long sleeveless sweater, but it is easy to scale it up or down if you need a different size. If you can front and back post crochet you can make this stylish sweater, which is just 3 rectangles.
I used Loops and Threads Barcelona yarn, which I have fallen in love with. They have some great color combinations.
What You Need
- 5 balls Loops and Threads Barcelona
- 6mm crochet hook
- darning needle
Stitches Used
- ch – chain
- dc – double crochet
- fpdc – front post double crochet
- bpdc – back post double crochet
Basketweave Sweater Crochet Pattern
ch 112
Row 1 – dc in 4th ch from hook and in each across, ch 2 turn (counts as first dc now and throughout)
Row 2 – *fpdc in 3 st, bpdc in 3 st* repeat across, dc in last st, ch 2, turn
Row 3 – Repeat row 2
Row 4 – *bpdc in 3 st, fpdc in 3 st* repeat across, dc in last st, ch 2, turn
Row 5 – Repeat row 4
Keep repeating rows 2-5 until you panels measure:
- Back Panel – 20″ wide (39 rows) – Make 1
- Front Panels – 10″ wide (18 rows) Make 2
Lay your back panel on a table, then lay the 2 front panels on top, lining up the corners.
Sew all the way along the top edge.
For the sides, leave 8″ open on each side for the armholesWeave in ends and you’re done!.I hope you love your new sweater!
