I ordered these fun faux fur pompoms from eBay they showed up last week.  Paired up with a bulky yarn and I can make these toques up in record time.  I think I have my time down to 20 minutes per beanie.

What You Need

Stitches Used

  • ch – chain
  • blo – back loop only
  • dc – double crochet
  • st – stitch

Bulky Crochet Toque Pattern

Large

The large unstretched circumference is 22 (56 cm), length is 8″ (20 cm), and will fit up to a 24″ circumference head.

ch 4, leave 8″ to sew on pompom

Row 1 – 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, slst to top of ch 3 (12)

Row 2 – ch 3, blo, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, slst to top of ch 3 (24)

Row 3 – ch 3, blo, *2 dc in next, dc* rep around, 2 dc in last st, slst to top of ch 3 (36)

Row 4 – ch 3, blo, dc *2 dc in next, dc, dc* repeat around, 2 dc in last st, slst to top of ch 3 (48)

Row 5 – ch 3, blo, dc in each around, slst to top of ch 3 (48)

Row 6-9 – Repeat Row 5

Use the end at the top of the beanie, and thread it through the elastic on the pompom.  Tie it off on the inside of the beanie, and bury the ends.

Small

The beanie’s unstretched circumference 17″ 431 cm), length 7.5″ (19 cm), will fit an average sized head (20-22″).

ch 4, leave 8″ to sew on pompom

Row 1 – 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, slst to top of ch 3 (12)

Row 2 – ch 3, blo, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, slst to top of ch 3 (24)

Row 3 – ch 3, blo, *2 dc in next, dc* rep around, 2 dc in last st, slst to top of ch 3 (36)

Row 4 – ch 3, blo, dc in each around, slst to top of ch 3 (48)

Row 5-9 – Repeat Row 5

Use the end at the top of the beanie, and thread it through the elastic on the pompom.  Tie it off on the inside of the beanie, and bury the ends.
