I have spent the morning on this pattern, putting off the inevitable….I have to mow the lawn today. I hate mowing the lawn.
I have been having fun making cup cozies, and you will probably see a few more in the next few weeks. I have sold a couple in my Etsy store, and they have been getting a lot of views, so I am hoping that they will sell over the spring and summer months.

This is an easy pattern and works up in about a half hour.
What You Need
- scrap white yarn (I used Red Heart Supersaver)
- Pumpkin colored yarn (i used Impeccable in pumpkin)
- about 24″ of black yarn
- safety eyes, or a couple of buttons
- 4.5mm crochet hook
- darning needle
Stitches Used
- ch – chain
- slst, slip stitch
- hdc – half double crochet
- sc – single crochet
- sc dec – single crochet decrease
Fox Cup Cozy Crochet Pattern
Important Tip
The chain 1 at the beginning of each row is not counted, and do not work in it. Slip Stitch to the first half double crochet in the round, and work the first stitch of that row in the same stitch as the chain 1.
In pumpkin
ch 27, slst to first chain making sure that the chains are not twisted
Row 1 – ch 1, HDC in each st around, slst to 1st HDC (27)
Row 2-4 – Repeat Row 1, switch to white
Row 5-6 – Repeat Row 1
Fasten off and bury ends.
Fox Snout
With pumpkin, join onto Row 4, opposite of the seam
Row 1 – ch2, HDC over 3 st
Row 2 – ch 2, turn, hdc in 3 st
Fasten off, sew snout to cozy, leaving the bottom unworked. Bury ends on the inside.
Take the 18″ of the black yarn, and whip stitch black on the unworked end of the nose. Bury ends on the inside.
Fox Ears – Make 2
with pumpkin
ch 6 (leave a 10″ end for sewing)
Row 1 – sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each across (5)
Row 2 – turn (do not ch) sc in each across (5)
Row 3 – turn (do not ch) sc dec, sc, sc dec (3)
Row 4 – turn (do not ch) sc dec, sc (2)
Row 5 – turn (do not ch) sc dec (1)
fasten off, and bury top end only
With White
ch 4 (leave 8″ for sewing)
Row 1 – sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each across (3)
Row 2 – turn do not ch) sc dec, sc
Row 3 – turn (do not ch) sc dec
Fasten off, bury top end only.
Sew white piece onto pumpkin piece.
Out safety or buttons onto cozy, then sew on ears.
