Environmentally friendly shopping bags don’t need to be boring, you can make your very own open-air market bag!
This is a simple pattern that works up quickly, that works great as a market bag, or as a small beach bag.
What You Need
- 1 skein Bernat Handicrafter DeLux Cotton Yarn
- 6.5mm crochet hook
Stitches Used
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- slst = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- sk – skip
Market Bag Free Crochet Pattern
Ch 25
Row 1 – DC in the third ch from hook and across, in last ch DC 4x, DC in each stitch (in the bottom the other DC) across to last st, DC 2 times in last st, slst to ch 3
Row 2 – Ch2, DC in each st around, slst to ch2
Row 3 – Ch 3, sk next st, *DC in next, ch1 sk next st* repeat around, slst to ch 2 (of the ch3)
Row 4-18 – Repeat Row 3 (do not fasten off! continue handle below)
Handle
Ch 52
DC in the third ch from hook and across. Slst to opposite side of the bag.
Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing (12″).
Sew handle on, reinforcing both sides.
Bury your ends into the inside of the bag.
