Beginner friendly, messy bun hat and infinity scarf crochet pattern.
I ordered some mohair yarn from an awesome seller on Etsy last week, and couldn’t wait to crochet something with it. What better than a messy bun hat and an infinity scarf to spoil yourself with?
Messy Bun Hat
What you need
- 3 skeins of #2 yarn (it doesn’t need to be mohair, but if you have some give it a try)
- Ouchless Elastic Band
- darning needle
- 4.5mm crochet hook
Stitches Used
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
Pattern
Slipknot around the elastic.
Ch 26
Row 1 – sc in second chain from hook, and in each across. slst to elastic twice, turn (26 sc)
Row 2 – sc in each stitch across. ch 1(counts as first sc), turn (26 sc)
Row 3 – sc in each across, slst to elastic twice. turn (26 sc)
Alternate rows 2 and 3 until the messy bun hat is the right circumference. Fasten off, leaving 24″ for sewing. Sew the edges together. Bury ends.
Infinity Scarf
What you need
- 9 skeins #2 yarn
- darning needle
- 4.5mm crochet hook
Stitches Used
- ch – chain

Pattern
Ch 27
Row 1 – DC in the third ch from hook, and in each across. Ch2 (counts as first DC), turn.
Row 2- dc in each st across. Ch2, turn.
Repeat row 2 – 108 times (or until you have about 18″ left of yarn)
Fasten off, and sew ends together.
